Hillsong Worship (known formerly as Hillsong LIVE) and Hillsong United (known also as UNITED) are from the same music ministry of the Hillsong Church called Hillsong Music. Their main difference, however, is in their missions which is explained below:
Hillsong United vs Hillsong Worship
Hillsong Worship, the church’s original musical group, began performing publicly in 1983 at Hillsong Church. Hillsong UNITED, a branch of Hillsong’s youth ministry, was later founded in 1998.
The Hillsong United youth ministry music team started writing songs and released their debut album, “Everyday” in 1999. The trio performs live shows and attends conferences all around the world while releasing an album.
While Hillsong United’s goal is to write songs that “awaken churches and individuals to the fact that we are redeemed and called into the story of God,” Hillsong Worship is driven by a desire to create godly songs that empower and reenergize believers throughout the world.
