Ministry of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye
On July 29, 1973, Pastor Adeboye joined the Redeemed Christian Church of God after making a commitment to follow Christ. Pastor Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, the founder of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God, could only preach in Yoruba, thus Pastor Adeboye acted as an interpreter in the church.
He was ordained a pastor in 1977. After the passing of Pa Akindayomi, he became the general overseer of the RCCG in 1987.
However, this ordination seemed difficult to balance with his job as a professor. Not long later, he was instructed by God to quit the job and focus on the ministry.
God has used him and his position as General Overseer to cause evident changes in the RCCG.
His acquisition of a sizable parcel of property along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway, where the Redemption Camp is located and the Holy Ghost Congress and other yearly events are conducted, is his most notable achievement.
RCCG has branches today in over 196 countries. This is in line with the vision of establishing a Redeemed Christian Church of God branch within a five-minute walking or driving distance in a developed city.
